How Often Should You Get a Sewer Camera Inspection?
July 10, 2025·4 min read
Unlike annual boiler maintenance, most homes don't need a sewer camera inspection on a fixed yearly schedule. Instead, a handful of situations make it worth scheduling one sooner rather than later.
- Before purchasing a home, especially one built before 1980
- After a sewer repair, to confirm the fix fully resolved the issue
- If you've had two or more clogs requiring professional snaking within a year
- Before major landscaping or hardscaping work near the sewer line's path
- If mature trees near your home have root systems close to the lateral
Homes with a documented history of root intrusion or older clay pipe may benefit from a check every few years as preventive insurance against a surprise backup.
